Reports and studies

This section brings together reports, studies and analytical materials developed within the project. Here you will find research-based insights, evidence, and reflections on the use of Artificial Intelligence in higher education, highlighting current practices, challenges, trends and emerging needs.

At the beginning of the project, experts conducted an in-depth review of regulatory and policy documents, complemented by round table discussions and a survey among teachers.

The report summarises key findings from a survey of 453 academic staff across more than 60 higher education institutions, exploring how AI is currently used in teaching, assessment and research. It highlights usage patterns, perceived benefits and risks, and levels of institutional readiness.

The report summarises key insights from round table discussions with 70 higher education experts across six European countries. It highlights current uses of AI in teaching and learning, identifies emerging trends and challenges, and outlines the need for more structured, responsible, and pedagogically grounded integration of AI in higher education, particularly in relation to academic integrity, learning quality, and institutional support.

The report maps and analyses the evolving landscape of EU-level and global policies, recommendations and guidelines that shape how artificial intelligence is used in higher education. Based on desk research covering 16 key instruments from the European Commission, higher education stakeholder organisations, UNESCO and OECD, it highlights shared priorities and emerging expectations for universities across teaching and assessment, academic integrity, skills development, research governance, data management and institutional decision-making.

The report provides an overview of national regulations, strategies, and recommendations shaping the use of artificial intelligence in higher education across partner countries. It analyses key policy frameworks, legal instruments, and institutional approaches in Italy, Lithuania, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, and Latvia, highlighting how AI is governed in teaching, learning, and research. The report also identifies common trends related to ethical use, academic integrity, and alignment with European regulatory frameworks.

The report provides an overview of key European and international legal frameworks shaping the use of artificial intelligence in higher education. It analyses the EU Artificial Intelligence Act and the Council of Europe Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, highlighting their main principles, legal requirements, and implications for universities in teaching, research, and governance.
